What does it mean if an order is filled?

Modified on Tue, 4 Jun at 11:14 AM

When a buy order is placed in the market at a specific price, other market participants can sell their shares at that price. As the shares of the seller are sold at that price, the buyer's order becomes partially filled until all of the shares are bought.

The same applies vice-a-versa for sell orders.
